Becoming More Self-Sufficient in a Disaster Without Government Services
Perhaps the most pressing concerns any family has is of the health of their family, friends, and neighbors. But in a situation of economic collapse, persistent unemployment, a decrease in government services, and rising health care expenses, it may be necessary for people to live on their own with a lower standard of medical services.
As we all remembers from the Hurricane Katrina disaster in New Orleans, government welfare programs, in the event of an emergency, will more than slow down. Even worse, people currently receiving government assistance will claim the resources in a few hours and then the bureaucrats in the region of the emergency will protect their own friends and family long before they offer help to the average person.
It is these kinds of crises that the vast majority of people are just not prepared for, whether in terms of having extra generic medicine at home or some extra bandages in case there is an accident. With the trend in the nation of government taking over more and more services and industries by the day, people relying fully on these assistance programs will be truly out of luck if they collapse because of economic or natural crises.
